The suspended APCC general secretary, Ambati Rambabu, held the party seniors responsible for the party's performance in the just-concluded by-elections in Telangana region.
He told media persons that there was not a single leader in the party who could tour all the 12 Assembly segments and campaign for the party in the absence of Dr Y S Rajasekhar Reddy. He blamed the senior leaders who have been more vociferous in the State politics for not campaigning for the party in the by-elections.
He recalled that Dr Rajasekhar Reddy was able to win 5 seats in the previous by-elections in Telangana region when the TRS MLAs resigned in 2008. He wondered why the senior Congress leaders who live on sending feed back to the high command, failed to take responsibility for the party’s victory in the by-elections.
While predicting that the party would not be able to win any seat in the by-elections, Ambati Rambabu, asserted that people know who the real leaders are and who the wheelchair leaders are.
He referred to the Kadapa MP Y S Jaganmohan Reddy's Odarpu Yatra in East Godavari district and asserted that even after 20 days of the tour, the mass appeal for the young MP remained intact. He said people were rallying behind Jagan as they did for Dr Rajasekhar Reddy.
